UPS Shipping– United Parcel Service
Pac N Send is an Authorized Shipping Outlet for UPS. We are independently owned and are allowed to discount UPS rates, unlike the UPS Stores which must charge a standardized rate. This can save you money. We discount UPS international rates. We are authorized for UPS drop-offs.
Founded in 1907, UPS shipping is the world’s largest package delivery company and a leading global provider of specialized transportation and logistics services. Using advanced technology, access to global resources, and an integrated network of physical, technological, and human assets, UPS shipping provides a powerful competitive advantage that can help you earn repeat customers and grow your business.
UPS has established specific weight and size limits for the packages that you send with all UPS services. The restrictions below only pertain to individual packages. There are no limits to the total weight of your shipment or the total number of packages in your shipment. Shipments larger than the limits listed below will require the use of our UPS Freight services or UPS Worldwide Express Freight.
Packages can be up to 150 lbs.
Packages can be up to 165 inches in length and girth combined.
Packages can be up to 108 inches in length.
Packages with a large size-to-weight ratio require special pricing and dimensional weight calculations.
Note: Packages that exceed UPS weight and size limits are subject to an Over Maximum Limits charge.
The limits listed above apply to most packages and destinations, but there are some variances because of different local restrictions in some countries.
How To Measure Your Package Size
To measure ground packages use the following formula:
Length + 2x Width + 2x Height
Step 1. Determining Length
Measure the longest side of the package, rounding to the nearest inch. This is your length.
Step 2. Determining Girth (2x Width + 2x Height)
Measure the width of the package, rounding to the nearest inch. Multiply this number by 2.
Measure the height of the package, rounding to the nearest inch. Multiply this number by 2.
Add these two numbers together. This is your girth.
Step 3. Add the length and the girth together. This is your package measurement.
Step 4. Weigh the package to obtain its actual weight.
Guidelines for Packages over 70 pounds:
For packages that weigh over 70 lbs. (31.5 kgs), it is important to evaluate your packaging materials to ensure that they are adequate for heavier package contents. Use these guidelines to pack your heavy package safely and securely:
Boxes must be strongly constructed, preferably with seams that are stitched or stapled, not merely glued. Weight limits printed on the Box Maker’s Certificate (found on the bottom flaps of most boxes) are intended for palletized freight shipments, not for shipments through small parcel carrier environments. Following the UPS Box Strength Guidelines will help ensure your package is of adequate strength to provide sufficient protection.
Use new boxes that are at their full strength and that have not been compromised by humidity or the wear and tear of previous use.
Seal your box with heavy-duty tape (preferably reinforced), by applying three strips to both the top and bottom of the box, so that the middle seam and the two edge seams are sealed.
Use only dense cushioning material to protect your heavy package contents. Expanded Polystyrene Peanuts and crumpled paper won’t protect your shipment effectively because both materials crush and shift under heavy loads. Customized corrugated board or engineered foam enclosures are more effective and reinforce the rigidity of the outer box.
Irregularly Shaped Packages
Measure boxes or containers that are not rectangular to determine the package measurements and whether the package is within maximum limits. Treat the irregularly shaped package as if it were in a regular rectangular box. Measure the length, width, and height of the package from its extreme points.

Customers who wish to ship lithium metal batteries without equipment (UN3090) via UPS® Air services must obtain pre-approval from UPS Airlines. This requirement applies to all lithium metal battery shipments, including those that are considered lightly regulated (such as small cells or batteries), as well as those that are fully regulated. Fully regulated shipments will also require dangerous goods shipping papers and a separate UPS Dangerous Goods Agreement. The International Air Transport Association (IATA), prohibit transport of lithium metal batteries (shipped without equipment) on passenger aircraft.
